“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” Henry David Thoreau</font color>

What is a drum circle?
A drum circle is a group of people making in-the-moment music with percussion instruments, voice and movement. Check out this short video clip of my friend Frank Thompson from AZ Rhythm Connection.
In addition to having an outstanding musical experience, drum groups are also an outlet for inter-personal communication and personal expression.

Intended outcomes for students and adults include:
Improved self-esteem
Improved inter-personal relationships
Improved school work and behavior
Improved motor coordination
Increased physical fitness
Increased production of endorphins
Increased self-expression
Increased participation in leisure activity

What is Community Music Therapy?</font color>
Community music therapy is taken out of the clinic or institution and brought to a different location where people can participate. It recognizes that music therapy can help benefit all types of people, not just those in special education. Music therapists have unique skills that can create successful music groups with people of all talents and abilities with a willingness to participate and follow directions.
